About Us
Who We Are & What We Do
Our vision is a society where exploitation and neglect of humans, animals and the environment are history.
We work according to four fundamental principles that provide an overarching statement of our beliefs. These provide philosophical guidance under which all other policy positions should be aligned to achieve our vision.
Our Values
We work to sustainably create humane and more pro-active communities
We put sentience, welfare and harmony with nature at the heart of our work
We base our work on robust evidence
We help people create a friendlier and more harmonious world
Our History
As the world changes, so must we
The more we learn about the world around us, the more obvious it has become that no single topic concerning people, animals or the environment can be disassociated from the rest. As a result, OMU (ancient Greek word meaning ‘together’) evolved from core volunteers of CAWS (Cretan Animal Welfare Society, est. 1995) in order to provide a more holistic approach to the issues facing our society today.
